Happy Holidays

The gift of reading is priceless. It provides entertainment, encourages lifelong learning and builds important life skills. This holiday season remember to encourage your child to be an active reader in the community and at home. You can even have your child read this blog post! At the library we provide many opportunities for children and adults to read a variety of formats. We have audiobooks on CD and Playaways, along with fiction and non-fiction print books. We have a variety of periodicals in both the adult and youth areas. We also have databases available online through our website that encourage active reading. For example, we provide access to Novelist K-8 which is a great resource for those of you who are looking for suggestions for any type of reader, struggling, enthusiastic or otherwise. The Library also has a subscription to Tumblebooks. Tumblebooks is an Internet-based reading program that reads-aloud various picture books while incorporating movement and music. Even if you don't have a chance to stop by the library, you still have access to quality literature through Tumblebooks.
Take the time to give the gift of reading this holiday season by stopping by the Library and using our resources. That's what we are here for! We wish all of you a healthy, peaceful and happy holiday season.
