Movies, Video Games and Playaways

I am not sure if everyone is aware of all of the different types of materials that we have available to patrons up here in Youth Services. So, I thought I would give a little run down of some things that are available to you.

Most people know about the DVD's we have because they have been checking them out for years. However, did you know that every season Mrs. A puts up a new special display of DVD's for kids so that they can see the different types of movies we have? We also have a selection of Blu-Ray titles available. We might not have many Blu-Ray now, but our collection is growing.

In front of the DVD shelves we have a whole bookcase filled with Video Games for kids. The
Video Games placed in Youth Services are rated between "Everyone" and "Ages 10 and Up". That way parents know that kids are picking appropriate Video Games when they are upstairs. We have Video Games for Wii, XBox 360, Playstation 3 and Playstation 2. Although we haven't been buying Playstation 2 games lately because of the new Playstation 3 system.

The other media that I am going to highlight are the Playaways. We have Playaways for all ages that include storybooks and chapter books. Playaways provide great means for children to access literature by listening to books. All you need is a AAA battery (included) and a set of headphones and the book is all set to be listened to.

Keep posted for new media soon!
