Black History Month

February is Black History Month.  It is an annual celebration of achievements by black Americans and a time for recognizing the role of African Americans in U.S. history.  You can learn more about black history by reading some wonderful stories.  Some suggestions are:
·         D is for Drinking Gourd: An African American Alphabet by Nancy I. Sanders (J 973.0496 SAN)
·         Henry’s Freedom Box by Ellen Levine (J E LEV)
·         The Patchwork Path: A Quilt Map to Freedom by Bettye Stroud (J E STR)
·         Unspoken: a Story from the Underground Railroad by Henry Cole (J E COL)
  • The Watsons Go to Birmingham by Christopher Paul Curtis (J CURTIS)
