Adventures Galore with the Museum Adventure Pass

Need an adventure?  Looking for something new and fun to do with the family?  Well, you have come to the right place.  I have just the thing to get your family up and active, which is much needed after this snow heavy, blustery winter.  And all you need is your library card.  That's right, your library card is your card to freedom from your house.  It just so happens that the Roselle Public Library participates in a lovely program called the Museum Adventure Pass.  All you need to do is bring yourself on down to the library, and don't forget that most important of cards - your library card, and we, those charming librarians, can get you free admission or a special discount to numerous museums and attractions.  Don't believe me?  Well, it is true, and I don't lie.  Your library card and a quick stop at the library can get you visiting the grizzly bears at the Brookfield Zoo, or planning your spring garden at the Chicago Botanical Society, or riding the rails at the Illinois Railway Museum, chugga chugga choo choo!  Got a love for Legos that just won't quit?  Then visit the Legoland Discovery Center and get a buy one, get one free admission with your Museum Adventure Pass.

There are seventeen, yep I said 17, museums and attractions participating in the Museum Adventure Pass program.  One museum pass may be checked out per family per loan period of seven days.  That means, that if you start this week, and got a pass every week, you would have something to do all the way until the middle of JUNE!  And by then, you could just start over, and see all the attractions again with their summer collections on display.  Sounds like a plan to me.

But wait, before you head out the door and come on over here to get your pass, I need to tell you about the newest addition to the Museum Adventure Pass Program.  Let me prepare you for this properly.  Ahem...

Turn down the lights, crank up the spotlight...and now your new destination, entering the mix, from Elmhurst, Illinois, a gem of a museum, the crowning jewel, let's hear it for The Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art!  The crowd goes wild!

I knew you would be excited.  Just what is lapidary art you ask?  Well, it is the fine art of cutting and polishing stone.  Humans have been fashioning tools and weapons from stone for centuries, and over time, this work has become an art form.  See dioramas, cameos, gemstones, jade carving, and my personal favorite, stone pictures.  These pictures look like paintings at first glance, but upon further inspection, reveal detailed mosaics with precisely cut stones to fit together without the use of grout.  Amazing and beautiful!  So, I think it is time to stop by the library, and pick up a Museum Adventure Pass today!
