An Awarding Weekend

Roll out the red carpet...or a Fruit Roll Up
So it is an exciting time of year, full of glitz, glam, red carpets, Hollywood, and movie stars.  I don't know about you, but I certainly look forward to watching the Oscars each year.  I love the fashion, the music, the movies, the stars, and the mishaps.  So many elements are combined into one show and it provides so much entertainment...usually.

Anyway, this year, why not make the Academy Awards a family event?  Have your own red carpet show where the fashionista of the family can show off his or her best look.  Check out some movies for the weekend, and then have the family take a vote and decide which one would get best screenplay, best actor, best actress, and best movie.  We have plenty of fabulous movies to check out here at the Roselle Public Library to get you started.  Pick up a variety of Disney movies and then start the great debate over who is the best princess, which one has the best music to sing along with, and which is better - the animated movies or the live action movies.
Hooray for Hollywood

Better yet, get some of the books the Disney movies were based on and decide which movie best portrayed the book.  Boy oh boy, there are so many great ideas to test out with the Academy Awards coming up - especially when you are trapped in the house with this cold weather!  Well, I know what I will be doing this weekend - picked up some books and movies from the Roselle Public Library, have my own award show, and then watch the real thing.  Who's with me?
