Pancakes and Soda Pop

Add some fruit to those, and I am drooling!
Can you imagine a world without pancakes?  What would you eat for breakfast on Sunday mornings?  Pancakes are a staple in the breakfast world - plain, cakey, chocolate chips, with fabulous fruit - the combinations are endless, and it just doesn't seem like there could ever be a time when pancakes didn't exist.

The same goes for Coca-Cola.  It is that refreshing cold soda pop drink that is the perfect treat on a hot summer day.  Pour it over ice, and nothing is more thirst-quenching that a good old can of Coca-Cola.  Coca-Cola is such a treat for me that I have even named my cat Coca in honor of the drink....and she happens to be the same color as the pop.

This could be you!
Now, why are we talking about pancakes and soda pop you ask?  No, I am not just hungry right now and listing my cravings.  We are talking about it because pancakes were first made on March 25, 1885, and Coca-Cola was invented on March 29, 1886!  Two great food/beverage inventions in the same month!  Maybe being trapped inside during winter has something to do with that.  Anyway, there is no better time than now to experiment in your own kitchen.  Make up a new recipe.  Test it out on your family.  You never know - you could be the inventor of some wonderful food that will be enjoyed by millions years from now.  Don't feel that ambitious?  Then just try out a new recipe!  We have numerous recipe books here at the Roselle Public Library.  So....get cooking!
