Question of the Day

Working with children everyday, I've made an observation:  Kids ask the most amazing questions.  I was pondering over what I was going to blog about when I came across this awesome website called Wonderopolis.  "What a cool name for a site," I thought to myself, "maybe I should check it out."  I am so glad I did.  The site is dedicated to people, mainly kids, asking questions.  You simply type your questions in a box on the website and it is placed in its question bank (currently there are over 10,000 questions in the bank).  Each day the site picks one question and then provides an answer to it.  Kids are the best at asking questions, just ask a parent of a preschooler!  You can peruse through some of the questions in the bank too.  As I read many of them I thought, "Hmm, I wonder about that too."  What a great site to bookmark and look at every day as a family.

The library is a great place to get answers for questions.  You might have been wondering about some things such as:

Why do Mother Sea Turtles leave bury their eggs and then leave them?
Where did Taylor Swift grow up?
Where does money come from?
How big is the universe?
Why do you throw up?

These are all questions the amazing librarians that I work with can help you find answers for because we have thousands of resources available at our fingertips.  We really do love questions and then searching for answers.   You might say we have a little bit of a desire to become "detectives."  So the next time you have a question, you can visit the Wonderopolis website and see if your question is chosen.  Or, for a faster response, come check us out and leave with a wonderful book or DVD that can help you make that "I wonder" into a "I know."
