Reading is a Gift!

This year we have a special gift for our readers.  The winter reading program will take place early this year!  The theme of the program is Reading is a Gift featuring one of our favorite book characters Pete the Cat!  Many of the youth service librarians have been making trips to the local schools to invite students to participate in the program.  Any child birth through 5th grade can participate in the program and all you have to do is read 9 hours or 540 minutes from December 1 through January 29th.  I know you can do that.  In fact, you will probably have to pick up a few bonus sheets because you all are great readers.

You can earn prizes for reading too.  Just stop by the Youth Services desk to sign up and receive your recording sheet to take home with you and start reading.  Every time you come to the library and check in your reading minutes with us, you are entered into a drawing to win an extra prize at the end of winter reading.

So I look forward to seeing you on December 1st when you register for the winter reading program.  Don't hesitate to ask any of the youth librarians for help in selecting some great titles to read.  You know, reading truly is a gift!
