Winter Break Ideas

It's the first week of winter break and already you are looking for things to do with the family.  Don't fret - the library has some ideas to help keep everyone happy during this holiday break.

IDEA #1 - Check out a Museum Pass.  The library has passes available to places like the Brookfield  Zoo, Lego Land, Illinois Railway Museum, Cantigny Park, Chicago Botanic Garden and other smaller local area museums.  Each location has four passes for checkout, so call first to see if passes are available for your destination.

IDEA #2 - Have a movie marathon night at home.  The library has thousands of titles to choose from in regular and BlueRay formats.  Browse through our quick pick movies for newly released titles, just remember that quick pick movies can be borrowed for three days where later releases are checked out for a week.

IDEA #3 - Lego My Lego! on December 26 from 12-2 PM.  Come hang out in the storytime room upstairs and spend hours creating Lego creations.  The best part is your creation will be displayed in Youth Services for everyone to appreciate and admire.

IDEA #4 - Totime!  Bring your 6-19 month old to play and socialize at the library.  This fun event happens twice over break - on December 20th and December 27th from 11:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.  Join Miss Stephanie in the storytime room for fun activities and toys appropriate for the young ones.

IDEA #5 - Grandparents Got Game or GGG as we like to call it is back for winter break!  Join in on the fun on December 28th from 1:30 - 3 p.m.  There will be a holiday activity to participate in, a craft to make, snacks and board games for all to play.  This is really a fun event that you can just drop in and have fun.
