Meet our newest YS member!

Hello! My name is Deanna Siegel and I am the new Youth Services Librarian here at the Roselle Public Library.

My first vivid memory as a young child is going to the library with my Dad and playing concentration games. The library was a place with fun games and new books, movies, and music. It was a weekend destination, and a special place for my Dad and I to play together. My Dad loved going to libraries, and so the love spread. When I entered library school, I knew that I wanted to provide children with the same positive experiences I had when I was a child.

In elementary school, my favorite book series was A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket (I still enjoy this one from time to time!). This was the first time I had felt that book spark, a feeling that would occur many times over the years.

I like to read all different kinds of books now, ranging from classic British literature to the newest picture books. However, my absolute favorite books to read are graphic novels. I am always ready to recommend both youth, teen, and adult graphic novels and am constantly on the lookout for more. Some of the graphic novels I enjoy the most are El Deafo by Cece Bell, Hilo: The Boy Who Crashed to Earth by Judd Winick, and Through the Woods by Emily Carroll.

When I am not in the library, I am either reading, watching new television shows, or practicing my ukulele skills. If you ever see me in Youth Services, come by and let me know what you’re currently reading!

See you soon,

Deanna Siegel
